Aidan Kelly, a member of staff in College with help from friends Patrick and Joe (all very experienced birdwatchers) led this event. The group met in Gleesons on Booterstown Avenue for tea/coffee and afterwards did the short walk down to Booterstown Dart Station car park. We had barely begun to look around when a kingfisher was spotted and everybody got an opportunity to get a close-up view through the telescope – what a great start to the outing. After that we moved around the area and saw: Little Egrets, Teal, Godwits, Snipe, Redshank, Shelduck and Mallard. Brent Geese flew over and back at intervals just above us while a Dunnock and a long-tailed Tit kept a close eye on us from nearby bushes! It was a very informative and enjoyable event in pleasant weather.
