TRA Visit to Hillsborough Castle and Gardens
Thursday 12th June 8.30 am – 7.30 pm
The TRA committee have planned a visit to Hillsborough Castle and Gardens, a grand Georgian estate and royal residence in Northern Ireland, just 20 minutes south of Belfast. As the website (https://www.hrp.org.uk/Hillsborough-Castle/#gs.lpuyby) suggests, the Castle welcomes you to delve into the heart of British and Irish history where pivotal moments and diplomatic efforts have taken place. Set in 100 acres the grounds are perfect for relaxed walks. Refreshments and lunch are available in the on-site café. We will split into two groups for the Castle tour.
We will travel by coach, leaving Nassau St Dublin at 8.30 am and arrive back in Dublin at 7.30 pm. On the return journey, our colleague Jean Whyte has kindly offered to host a visit, plus afternoon tea, at Loughbrickland House Co Down.
The schedule for the day is as follows:
Depart Dublin 8:30 am
Arrive Hillsborough 10:30 am
First castle tour 11:30 am -12.30 pm
Second castle tour 11:45 am – 12:45 pm
Lunch and tour of gardens 12:45 pm – 3:30 pm
Depart Hillsborough 3.30 pm
Arrive Loughbrickland 4:00 pm
Depart Loughbrickland 5.30 pm
Arrive Dublin 7.30 pm
The cost per member will be €48 to cover the cost of coach hire and the visits to the Castle and Gardens.
