On 11th February, 39 of our members set off to visit Altamont Garden in Tullow, Co Carlow. The trip was scheduled during Snowdrop Week. We arrived at the Mount Wolseley Hotel for lunch about 12.15pm and had a good lunch in a reserved area of the hotel. We then left for Altamont Garden, arriving just before 2pm.
At Altamont, we were met by our guide who gave us an excellent tour of the garden. She also gave us some background information on the garden and on the house, and led us around the garden and the lake. We stopped at various places where our guide pointed out particular shrubs, trees, and of course snowdrops. We then had some free time in the garden and also time for afternoon tea.
We arrived back in Dublin at 5.30 after an enjoyable day out.
