Walk in St. Anne’s Park Raheny, Thursday September 22nd

September 22, 2022 @ 10:30 - 12:30

St Anne’s Park in Raheny is among the larger parks in the city, being second only to the Phoenix Park.  The walk will start at the Red Stables which are situated at the Clontarf side of the park and will take about 90 mins.  We will pass through woodland and open parkland on good unpaved tracks.  We will have stops along the way to point out some of its history and its special features.

St Anne’s Park is exceptionally beautiful and varied, originally owned and laid out by the Guinness family.  At its peak it extended to nearly 500 acres.  Eventually it was acquired by the city and developed as a wonderful public space without losing its many attractive features. Today it comprises about 270 acres of beautiful woodlands, parklands and gardens, together with extensive sports and recreation facilities.  Further information is available on the website http://www.dublincity.ie/main-menu-services-recreation-culture-dublin-city-parks-visit-park/st-annes-park

We will meet at the cafe in the Red Stables, which are within the Park from 10.30am and depart for the walk from the courtyard at 11am.  There are toilets adjoining the cafe and also nearby in the park.

It will be possible to have lunch at the café or at a local pub nearby.  We will give further directions just prior to the walk.
