Walk in Phoenix Park

March 27 @ 11:00 - 12:30

The Phoenix Park is one of the largest enclosed public parks in any capital city in Europe.

It was originally formed as a royal hunting Park in the 1660s and opened to the public in 1747. A large herd of wild fallow deer still remain to this day. The Park is also home to the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre, Áras an Uachtaráin, Zoological Gardens, Victorian Flower Gardens, a Biodiversity Information Centre, Phoenix Park Café and Tea Rooms.  The Phoenix Park is only a mile and a half from O’Connell Street. Both passive and active recreational pursuits may be pursued such as walking, running, polo, cricket, hurling and many more.

The walk will take us from the Visitor Centre, past Àras An Uachtaràin, the American Ambassador’s Residence, the Papal Cross and on to the Magazine Fort and back to the Visitors Centre  and should take about an hour and a half.

The Walking Group of the Trinity Retirement Association   has no insurance cover of any description. You must sign the disclaimer  and hand it to a TRA committee member prior to joining the walk.

Please make sure to wear suitable footwear and to bring waterproofs (depending on the weather forecast!)

We will meet at 10.30 for coffee/tea in the Ashtown CastleVisitor Centre Café and start the walk at 11 a.m.

Information on public transport and parking is available at https://www.phoenixpark.ie/directions/

This event is for members only.  Booking opens on the March 13th at 9.00am and closes on the March 25th at 11.00pm.
