Visit to Malahide Castle – 11 April 2018

The Executive Committee invites members to a tour of Malahide Castle and Gardens. We will meet at 12.00 noon in the Avoca Café located in the visitor centre. Tea, coffee and refreshments are available in the café. The guided tour will commence at 12.30 and finish at 1.30 approximately.

Following the tour, participants may tour the gardens, or maybe have lunch in the Avoca Food Hall and then explore the gardens.

Nearby Malahide village has plenty of cafes, pubs and restaurants where food is served all day.

 

Getting There

Malahide Castle is 13KM from Dublin city centre- there are plenty of ways to get there

Public transport, here are some options

Bus Routes- Dublin buses operate to and from Malahide- bus route number 42 or bus route 32 from Dublin City Centre- journey time approx. 40 minutes.  https://www.dublinbus.ie/ Trains (DART): Irish Rail operates a train and D.A.R.T. service to and from Malahide: For schedules visit http://www.irishrail.ie/

 

Walking from Malahide Station

On exiting the station, take a right, walk on across the bridge and then take a left onto the pedestrian pathway into the castle grounds. Follow this pathway all the way to the Visitor Centre and nearby Castle.

By car from Dublin City centre.

Take the R107 (Malahide Road) from Fairview to Malahide. Look out for the road to the Castle entrance (right turn) which is just before you reach the village. There are clear sign postings at this junction. The Castle entrance is a couple of hundred meters along this road on the left.

Parking

And finally, don’t forget… Comfortable shoes– there’s lots to see so make sure your feet are happy! prepare for the weather- rain coats and/or sun cream be ready for whatever the Irish weather can throw at you (and can change all in one day!)
