Poolbeg Lighthouse Walk – Tuesday 14th May 2019

May 14, 2019 @ 10:30 - 13:00

Dear Members, Trinity Retirement Association member, Michael Nowlan, will lead a walk on the 14th May from Grand Canal Dock to Poolbeg Lighthouse and back to Sandymount.

Meet in front of the Bord Gáis Theatre on Grand Canal Dock for a 10:30 departure. Walk to Poolbeg Lighthouse and back to Sandymount.

Multiple bus routes and the DART serve the Grand Canal Dock area. On the return, Bus 1, 18, 47 pass through Sandymount as well at the DART.

The route starts at Grand Canal Dock and passes through Ringsend, taking advantage of parks where possible. Turning into Sen Moore Park, we will pass through Irishtown Nature Park, along Poolbeg Beach to the Great South Wall. The return journey is mostly along the same route, except that it is shortened by heading to Sandymount Village where there are a range of transport and refreshment possibilities.

This walk is largely on paved surfaces with some sandy beach. Once we reach the Great South Wall, the surface is granite blocks which can be uneven in places. There are virtually no places for coffee on this walk and no public toilets.

Total distance is about 12.5Km and should take around three hours. There are some possibilities to shorten the walk, but once we are in the Irishtown Nature Park, the only possibility is to retrace your steps.

This event is for TRA members only and so if you wish to join us for the walk, you may book a place online below.

We hope to see you on the 14th…
