You are invited to a lecture by Professor Patrick Geoghegan on Monday 9th of March at 11.30 in the Neill Theatre in the Long Room Hub.
Our Liberator: Daniel O’Connell, Trinity College Dublin, and the struggle for human rights.
This lecture will explore the connections between Daniel O’Connell and Trinity, his campaigns for political and civil rights, and how he is remembered today in Ireland and around the world. Reflecting on the recent commemoration of the bicentenary of O’Connell’s birth, the lecture will also explore his contested legacy.
Professor Patrick Geoghegan is the Director of the Trinity Long Room. The author of two books on Daniel O’Connell, King Dan and Liberator, he presents the award-winning Talking History on Newstalk (now in its 20th year).
