Liffey Walk from Islandbridge to Chapelizod returning to Islandbridge/Kilmainham via Phoenix Park – Thursday 22ndFebruary, 11am
This is a loop walk along the Liffey from Kilmainham/Islandbridge to Chapelizod village, returning through the Phoenix Park. At Chapelizod, we cross the Liffey and enter the Phoenix Park. We then walk through the Phoenix Park and return to Islandbridge, exiting the park at the turnstile gates on Conyngham Road.
The walk is about 6-7km, largely on the flat, and will take about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on our pace.
We will meet in the café in the Hilton Hotel Kilmainham from 10.30am and at 11am, we depart the Hilton and walk down to the Liffey which runs through the Irish War Memorial Park in Islandbridge.
The Hilton Hotel is a 10-15 minute bus journey from College Green. From the Front Gate of Trinity looking up Dame Street, buses No. 13 or No .40 stop at the first bus stop on the left. Get off the bus at the stop for Kilmainham Gaol, walk back in the direction that the bus has come and turn left at the traffic lights. You will see the Hilton on your left.
Car parking is available in the nearby Irish Museum of Modern Art – €2 for three hours or in the Irish War Memorial Gardens (no charge). Click on the attached link for a map of the area https://www.google.ie/
