A Dublin Bay Cruise from Dun Laoghaire to Howth, with return by DART

July 11, 2023 @ 00:15 - 21:00

| €22

The cruises are operated by Dublin Bay Cruises out of the East Pier in Dun Laoghaire, on its 96 seat passenger vessel, the St. Bridget.

Why not discover one of Ireland’s most beautiful coastal fishing villages? Hop on board the St Bridget and sail from Dun Laoghaire to the traditional fishing village of Howth with its world-renowned fish restaurants and fantastic walks.

During your 60-70 minute voyage you will see aspects of Dublin that are not possible on any other mode of transport. The guide will give a commentary about Dalkey island, Clontarf and the UNESCO wildlife reserve on Bull Island, Baily and Kish Lighthouses, Howth head, Ireland’s Eye with its gannet colonies perched on the cliffs, Lambay Island and Howth Harbour, with its many seals swimming in the harbour.

There is a bar on board, so refreshments are available.

Return to Dun Laoghaire via DART, using your DART voucher (to be supplied). This voucher entitles the bearer to a reduced DART ticket price of €2 (We guess most of us will have the free travel-pass!)

Ticket Pricing for Dublin Bay Cruise

Tue 11 July.  1 Cruise seat  €22.00 (group rate)

Booking opens on the 23rd June at 9.00am and closes on the 9th of July at 11.00pm

We have reserved some places for lunch at the Howth Yacht Club out on its veranda, with awning covers, overlooking the harbour at a cost of €28 per person (2 courses from set menu). Alternatively you may wish to arrange your own lunch at the many restaurants along the west pier or in the village – it’s busy at this time of year so consider pre-booking your places if you are not lunching at the club.  See the next event on the list.

Trip details

Be in the queue at East Pier, Dun Laoghaire harbour by no later than 12h15.

It’s a 12h30 departure from Dun Laoghaire, so ETA in Howth is 13h40 and then a short stroll to the Yacht Club for lunch.

Do check a weather App prior to leaving home and if it’s a Force 5+ wind then consider bringing a waterproof jacket and possibly popping a seasickness pill!

This is our last event for the academic year.
