Dear Members,
Bruce Misstear (TCD) has very kindly agreed to act as our guide for the TRA walk at Bohernabreena Waterworks in Glenasmole, which is located 3.5 km south west of Tallaght along the R114. He will tell us about the history and operation of the waterworks. The walk will commence at Bohernabreena car park at 11.30 am on Wed 27 Nov. We will walk along the Dodder to the Lower Reservoir. We will then loop around the Upper Reservoir before returning to the car park. The length of the walk is 8.5 km, and will take 2 -2.5 hours. The path is mostly paved and quite smooth, without any serious gradients, but can be a bit wet, depending on the weather. I suggest that we meet for coffee at 10.30 am in the Speaker Connolly pub on the Firhouse Road. They will not have any scones, but tell me it is OK to bring a snack bar to have with your coffee. You can get to the Speaker Connolly on the 49, 75 and 175 buses. The space at the Bohernabreena car park is quite limited. Thus I suggest that we do some car-pooling from the public carpark on the other side of the Firhouse Road from the Speaker Connolly. Food is available in the Old Mill (formerly Bridget Burke’s) and the Speaker Connolly. Mike Jones has kindly agreed to help with the organization.
If you wish to join us on the walk you may book a place on the booking system below (this is our preferred method of booking) or if website booking is not possible send an email to info@tcdretired.ie
