You are invited to join us for a birdwatching trip to Booterstown Marsh on Monday 21st November.
We will meet in the car park of Booterstown Dart Station at 11am and walk to the nearby Booterstown Marsh.
For those interested in meeting for tea/coffee beforehand, we will meet from 10.15am in Gleesons of Booterstown (44 Booterstown Avenue, see http://www.gleesons.ie/contact.html).
The walk will be led by Aidan Kelly who works in the Department of Physiology in College. He has been birdwatching for many years and is a member of Birdwatch Ireland. At weekends he is often out birdwatching, and he also photographs birds. Some of you may know him already as he has led the Green Week Bird Walk around College for the last few years. The Association is very grateful to Aidan for agreeing to lead this outing.
The trip will last about an hour and a half to two hours, if there are still birds to see and people are interested. We should see a variety of wintering waders and wildfowl as well as different Gull species, Little Egrets, Grey Herons and maybe a Kingfisher if we are lucky.
Aidan will bring along his telescope/spotting scope with tripod so this should allow for close view of the birds.
If you have a pair of binoculars you should bring them with you, together with any relevant bird books /field guides that you have. You should also have sturdy shoes or boots and be prepared for rain.
If you would like to join us on the morning of Monday 21st November, you can sign up on the website below or email info@tcdretired.ie.
We look forward to seeing you on the day.
