Dear TRA members,
You are invited to a talk and tour about the Royal College of Surgeons (RCSI) on Stephens Green at 2 pm on Wednesday 19th February.
Surgeons’ Halls – building the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland
RCSI is Ireland’s second oldest third level institution and was founded in 1784 to regulate the practice of surgery. From rented premises behind Mercer’s Hospital, via St Stephen’s Green and a variety of Dublin hospitals, it has expanded to include campuses in Bahrain, Dubai, Malaysia and China. The talk will cover the history of RCSI and its medical school, with emphasis on its people and buildings, and is based on a book of the same title published in 2011 (but with updates!).
The talk and tour will be given by Clive Lee, who is a Trinity graduate, Fellow of RCSI, currently Professor of Anatomy in RCSI and the Royal Hibernian Academy, Visiting Professor of Biomechanics in Trinity, and Honorary FTCD.
The talk will be held in Harold Browne Lecture Theatre in RCSI starting at 2 pm on Wednesday 19th February, followed by afternoon tea & a tour.
