You are invited to join other members of the Association for a Tour of the Glasnevin Cemetery Museum, which includes a private guided tour of the cemetery as well as access to the museum which is all self-guided. This event is open to members only, as numbers are limited. The cost is €8 per person.
We will meet at 10.30 am in the Tower Café in the Museum.
If you would like to join other members of the Trinity Retirement Association for this event, please let us have your online booking (See below.) and payment of €8 per person no later than Friday 10th November. As places are limited for this event, it is advisable to book as soon as possible. Reservations will be taken on a first come, first served basis. In the event that this event is booked out please email info@tcdretired.ie for your name to be included on a waiting list. You will be contacted should a place become available.
Permanent exhibitions at Glasnevin Cemetery Museum include ‘City of the Dead’, ‘Prospect Gallery’ and ‘Milestone Gallery’. ‘City of the Dead’ is a history of the cemetery, Glasnevin Trust and even a reconstructed exhibition of how a grave robber conducted his grim business. The glazed ‘Prospect Gallery’ offers periodic historical exhibitions over a panoramic view of the cemetery along with information on its marvellous array of funeral monuments and historic graves. The ‘Milestone Gallery’ is home to the Milestone Timeline, a never before attempted piece of exhibition design technology.
Glasnevin Cemetery Museum has been the recipient of a number of prestigious awards since opening April 2010 such as ‘Best International Museum’ (London May 2011), Thea Award (California March 2011), Kenneth Hudson Awards (Portugal May 2012) to name but a few.
Location
Glasnevin Cemetery Museum is located on the Finglas Road, Botanic, Dublin 11, approximately 3km from the City Centre. Pedestrian access is also available through the original Prospect Square gate (beside the famous Gravediggers Pub).
Transport
Bus: 140 and 40 Depart from O’ Connell Street to Glasnevin Cemetery.
Glasnevin Cemetery Museum is adjacent to the National Botanic Gardens which are serviced by routes 4, 9 and 83. Visitors coming from the National Botanic Gardens must do so via Prospect Road and continue onto the Finglas Road or enter by foot via Prospect Square.
Car: Glasnevin Cemetery is situated on the Finglas Road/N2.
Parking: There are on-site parking facilities for approx 200 vehicles. In addition, there are also a number of on-street parking spaces.
