Coach Trip and guided Tour of Johnstown Castle, Wexford – Thursday September 12th 2019

Dear Members,

The Retirement Association have organised a Day Trip by Private Coach to Johnstown Castle, Wexford on Thursday 12th September 2019. We will meet at the Davenport Hotel at 8.45am. Our coach will pick us up there and we will depart for Wexford at 9am.

Johnstown Castle is a 19th century castle surrounded by spectacular ornamental grounds and gardens, together with a Museum displaying an extensive collection of artefacts relating to rural life in Ireland in 19th and 20th centuries, including an informative exhibition about the Great Famine. The museum is not the only display— there are over 20 peacocks and peahens around the grounds, displaying their finery !! We will have a guided tour of the castle and the museum and grounds can be seen at our leisure.

The cost for the trip is €50 per person . Guests are welcome. This includes the cost of the coach, castle tour, museum and estate entrance, tea /coffee and scones on arrival and lunch following our guided tour. You can book online at www.tcdretired.ie. The Davenport hotel is on Merrion St. Lower and just a few steps from the Lincoln Place gate of Trinity College. Pearse Dart Station, Westland Row and all buses serving Merrion Square, Clare St., Nassau St. will leave you close by. The Luas Green Line stops on Dawson St. We expect to be back at the Davenport around 6pm that evening.
